Portlock / Koko Kai
Portlock is located on the South Shore of East Honolulu at the edge of Koko Head in the Hawaii Kai region of Oahu. Famed Hawaii Kai developer Henry J. Kaiser built an amazing and sprawling ocean front estate that became Portlock’s landmark estate and a trophy property. Today Portlock remains one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Hawaii. It offers waterfront and ocean view homes that are among some of the finest homes on Oahu. Lot sizes in Portlock are larger than average and many discerning buyers prefer this area for its sense of exclusivity, privacy and its spectacular views of the ocean, coastline, Diamond Head and gorgeous Hawaiian sunsets. Portlock is also conveniently located near shopping, great restaurants, and it’s just a short drive into downtown Honolulu and Waikiki.
Located near the southern end of East Oahu in the Hawaii Kai region, Koko Kai borders the famed Portlock community. Most of the homes here boast panoramic ocean, coastline, mountain, and sunset views. For parts of the year, the sun sets over Diamond Head to the west. Koko Kai is home to beautifully elevated oceanfront estates built up along the rocky coast of Koko Head. Rocky oceanfront homes offer a sense of peace and serenity with greater privacy. Many Koko Kai residents enjoy watching the occasional breach of a whale off in the distance or the leaps of dolphins off the coast. While most of the homes in Koko Kai were built in the 1960’s and 70’s, in recent years, many homeowners here have invested heavily into extensive renovations and new construction. Koko Kai is just a short distance to shopping, restaurants, and wonderful eateries along the Hawaii Kai Marina. If you are considering owning a luxurious home in a quiet community on or near the ocean, the Koko Kai neighborhood is one to consider.
